Winter
Skiing
The Andalo-Paganella Ski area offers an expanding range of new facilities, suitable for both advanced skiers and beginners or for the little ones. There are plenty of dining lodges. The Paganella plateau, in the centre of Trentino, offers a 360 degree view of the surrounding mountain chains, the Dolomites, the valleys of Adige, Val di Non, Valle dei Laghi and Lake Garda. The Andalo-Paganella Ski area is reachable by car from the B&B Pra da Lares in 15 minutes. Madonna di Campiglio, Folgarida-Marileva and Pinzolo are all ski resorts nestled in the Brenta Dolomites. Its network of slopes are surrounded by the Dolomite massifs. Folgarida-Marileva is reachable by car or train from the B&B Pra da Lares in 45 minutes.
Snowshoeing
Snowshoes were used by our grandparents to walk on the snow as to stop their feet sinking. They used them to go from one house to another or in the woods to collect some wood. Today snowshoeing is one of the most popular winter sports, and in Val di Non on Epiphany day, La Ciaspolada is held, one of the most important races. The paths for snowshoeing are numerous and along these you will find malghe (mountain dairy huts), peaks and lodges where you can expect a tasty refreshment. Snowshoeing excursions in the moonlight are unique and fascinating.
Ice skating
Ice skating is a fun sport and accessible for all. Lake Tovel, when it freezes and has not snowed yet, hosts numerous skaters. You can also skate on Lake Smeraldo and on many artificial ice rinks or at the Fondo ice rink.
Christmas Markets
In Trento you can really feel the magic of Christmas browsing the Christmas Markets. In Trento, Bolzano, Merano, Bressanone, Brunico and in many other small villages, the streets and the squares create a magical atmosphere. The Christmas Markets are reachable from the B&B by car or easily reached by train in 20 minutes.
